What is my outgoing or SMTP server?

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It is the mechanism by which an email client program sends email to an outgoing mail server, also called an SMTP server, for delivery to the intended email address.

You cannot use SmartyHost servers as your SMTP server in your email client. Instead, you must configure your email client to use the SMTP server that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides.

The list blow shows the common Australian ISPs' SMTP servers:

ISP SMTP server
AAPT : mail.aapt.net.au
Bigpond : mail.bigpond.com
Dodo : smtp.dodo.com.au
iiNet : mail.m.iinet.net.au
Internode: mail.internode.on.net
iPrimus: smtp.ipimus.com.au
OntheNet: mail.onthenet.com.au
Optusnet : mail.optusnet.com.au
Ozemail : smtp.ozemail.com.au

TPG : mail.tpg.com.au
