What is a staging area?

A staging area is used when a customer requires the ability to test the website prior to making it live to the world. This is most commonly done in preparation for a move from another hosting company to SmartyHost.

If you need a staging are to test your website, contact Technical Support with the domain name of your hosting account. Your staging area will be pointed to your domain's public/www directory, and will usually be in the following format:

    http://<FTP user name>.customers.smartyhost.com.au

The staging area will be active within an hour once your request has been processed.
